The Palliative Day Program is supported by Carefor Hospice Cornwall and provides a welcoming, friendly environment that gives clients an opportunity to share with others going through similar life experiences.
Activities of the support group may include discussions, reflexology, therapeutic touch, music, massage, pet therapies, reading, games, puzzles, and guest speakers. Social Worker services and a quiet room are also available throughout the client’s visit.
A hot lunch and delicious snacks will be available throughout the day.
The Palliative Day Program Coordinator is a Registered Health Care Professional, who is assisted by a team of caring volunteers and will be available to discuss issues and concerns regarding their disease process.
The support group exists to provide social and emotional support to individuals with a terminal illness and their families, therefore allowing them to remain in their community. The support group compliments services already provided for terminally ill clients and their families residing in Cornwall, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry. Anyone can make a referral: the client, caregiver, health care professional, clergy or a friend.
